Privacy Policy
Dollar Doctrine is a static website, and that shapes this whole policy: there is very little here that could collect information about you in the first place. This page explains, plainly, what a visit to this site does and does not involve.
This site has no accounts, no comments, and no forms. It does not ask for your name or email address. It sets no tracking cookies of its own. We do not sell personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles of our readers.
What this site does not collect
Many privacy policies are long because the site behind them collects a lot. Ours can be direct about what is absent. There is no sign-up, no login, and no member area. There is no comment section on this website and no contact form. Nothing on these pages asks you to type in your name, your email address, your phone number, or any financial information, and you should never send financial details — card numbers, account numbers, or similar — to anyone claiming to need them on our behalf. Reading a guide here requires telling us nothing about yourself.
Hosting and standard technical logs
Like every website, this one is delivered by a hosting provider — in our case, Cloudflare — and delivering a page over the internet involves standard technical information. When your browser requests a page, the hosting provider may process technical logs that include your IP address, your browser type, and the page requested, in order to deliver the site and keep it secure against abuse and attacks. This is the ordinary machinery of the web, not a Dollar Doctrine data-collection program: it happens automatically when any site loads, whether or not the site's owner ever looks at it, and it exists so pages can be served and protected rather than so visitors can be studied.
Analytics
We may use aggregate page-view analytics so we can understand, in broad terms, which guides people actually read. The point of that is editorial, not commercial: knowing that a guide is read — or that one is ignored — helps us decide what to explain next and what to improve. Aggregate means totals and trends, not a record of you. Consistent with that, we do not sell personal data, and we do not build advertising profiles of our readers. Your reading here is not packaged into a picture of who you are.
Cookies
This site itself does not set any tracking cookie. There is no Dollar Doctrine cookie following you from page to page or from this site to other sites. One honest exception deserves naming: if a page ever embeds a YouTube video, YouTube and Google may set their own cookies when you play that video, under their own policies. At present, our pages link out to videos on the Dollar Doctrine YouTube channel rather than embedding them, which means following a video is your choice, made on YouTube, under YouTube's privacy policy — not something that happens silently here.
External links
Our guides link to sources and references — public institutions such as the Federal Reserve, Freddie Mac, the IRS, and the CFPB, and to our own YouTube channel. The moment you follow a link to another website, that site's own privacy policy governs what it does, not this one. External sites can use cookies, logs, and accounts in ways this static site does not, so it is worth a moment's attention to their policies when you arrive, particularly before entering any information anywhere.
Children
This site is written for a general audience — adults working through everyday money questions. It is not directed at children, and it does not collect data from children; as explained above, it does not run accounts, forms, or sign-ups through which data from anyone of any age would be gathered in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new wording will be published on this page, in place of the old. The site itself may evolve — a static page today could gain a feature tomorrow — and if a future feature changes what information a visit involves, this policy will be updated to describe it honestly before or as that change takes effect. The version of the policy that applies to your visit is the one standing on this page when you visit.
Contact
If you have a question about this policy or about privacy on this site, the way to reach Dollar Doctrine is through the YouTube channel, where comments reach the team directly. We read questions about how this site treats its readers the same way we read corrections to our math: carefully, and as something to get right.
For what the content on this site is — and is not — see our disclaimer. For who we are, see About Dollar Doctrine.
